We're On the Move

Hey Everyone,

I know it's been over a week since I updated, so I apologize for the delay. It's been a whirlwind as you can imagine. Here's where we've been and where we are:

  • Sunday I spoke at Vertical Church Greensboro and had a "good bye" bbq with a few friends.
  • Monday was my birthday, so we finished up a few tasks and celebrated as a family.
  • Tuesday we loaded our home and Pastor Tyler's home onto a semi.
  • Wednesday we left for Salt Lake City!

Our drive yesterday started with a close call. As soon as we hit Asheville I started to notice the car handling in a strange manner. After about 20 minutes I pulled over and found one of the lug nuts sitting right next to the tire and three other lug nuts were all loose. God was very kind to us, because should the tire have come off, especially in the mountains of Tennessee, it could have been very dangerous. A tow truck picked us up just after 7a and we sat at a Citgo gas station for 3 1/2 hours while they fixed our van. Thankfully, after a four hour delay we were back on our way.

Last night around 8:30p we finally pulled into Chicago. We'll be here through the weekend visiting our new baby niece and I'm preaching at Redemption Bible Church on Sunday morning.

The plan is to pull into Salt Lake next Tuesday. So here's how you can be praying:

  • Pray for safe travel (obviously we need that).
  • Pray that we get settled in SLC quickly.
  • Pray HARD for Pastor Tyler's house to sell.
  • Pray for our team to find jobs in SLC.
  • Pray for those still considering moving with us. We have a family coming for a visit soon that is considering joining our team. Please pray God gives them clarity.

That's it for now! To stay more connected to our day to day, you can follow us on social media. Find Tami on Instagram and you can find me on Instagram and Facebook.

Love you and thanks for lifting us up!

For the sake of His name,

Almost There

Hey Everyone!

As always I hope and pray this finds you well. I was thinking about each of you who have graciously agreed to continue to lift our family up in prayer and I was reminded of Paul's words in Philippians 1:3-5. He wrote:

"I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy, because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now."

I very much resinate with his gratitude here because I feel it for you. Through your prayers you have chosen to "partner" with us in the gospel. You're a critical part of all God will do in and through Ridgeline because of your faithfulness to pray for us so frequently. Everything God does in Salt Lake will happen on the back of every prayer you pray right where you are. So thank you for your partnership.

Here are a few ways we've seen God at work this past week:

  • Last Sunday I had the privilege of sharing our vision for Ridgeline Church at Christ Church here in Hickory. They were SO excited about all God will do in Salt Lake and they gave us a great financial gift to encourage our work!
  • Our termite inspection came back clean...thank God, because how nasty would it be if it didn't?! 😂
  • We secured an apartment in Salt Lake! Cost of living is MUCH higher in SLC than it is in Hickory, but God graciously helped us find a great apartment we can live in while we work to figure out where we want to live long term and buy a home.
  • Monday was Tami's birthday, so we ate cake until we felt sick and celebrated the gift she is to us!!!
  • We shot NINE videos about The Vital Few, why we chose the name Ridgeline and why we chose to plant in SLC. They'll be up on my YouTube page soon. Make sure you subscribe so you don't miss them!

Prayer Requests:

  • Our home inspection happens Wednesday afternoon. Please pray that there are no issues, so we can close on time.
  • Please pray for us as we work to secure a moving company this week.
  • Please pray for Tami and I as we wrestle with how to best home school the kids for the next season.
  • Pray for protection over our marriage, our family and our team. It's a stressful season for all of us and the enemy would love to discourage. Pray that we would stay focused on Christ and all He's called us to.
  • Continue praying that Pastor Tyler's home would sell and for God to show us favor as we continue to build out myXP
  • Please pray for a few of our team members who are relocating to SLC with us and need to find jobs. There is a great job market, but we still need to see God open the right doors.

Sunday I head to Harvest Bible Chapel in Winston-Salem to cast vision for Ridgeline across both of their services and then next Monday and Tuesday Pastor Tyler and I head to Dallas to explore a possible network partnership there. Please pray for God's favor in both.

I'm thankful for you all and so humbled that you'd pray for us. I look forward to telling you next week about God's ongoing faithfulness.

For the sake of His name,

God Is At Work!

Hey Everyone!
I hope and pray this finds you well and want to thank you all again for your prayers! We see God at work in and through every prayer you pray and I wanted to share two exciting updates!

First, we had an excellent vision meeting in Hickory, NC last night. We had just over 40 people come and everyone is so excited about what God plans to do through Ridgeline in Salt Lake City. Many signed up to support Ridgeline financially and we added a bunch of new people to our prayer team! If you attended our vision meeting last night and pledged to support Ridgeline financially, you can do so at your convenience HERE.

Second, we received an offer on our home today! It's lower than we want it to be so we have countered and we're praying they accept. We want to get on the ground in SLC as quickly as possible and selling our home is the biggest hurdle standing in the way. Please pray this counter is accepted, so we can get to work.

I'll be spending the next couple weeks on more fundraising. So if you'd like to help us plant churches in pursuit of a spiritual awakening in the Salt Lake County we could very much use your help. For planning purposes, it would be so helpful if you could fill out this simple PLEDGE FORM, so we have some sense of where we're at financially.

As always, the thing we need the most are your prayers. Here are a few reminders of things to be praying for:

  • Please pray that the most recent offer on the Huguley's home goes through.
  • Please pray for Pastor Tyler's home to sell.
  • Please pray that God would stir in hearts to support Ridgeline financially.
  • Please pray that God would show us favor as we continue to seek out partnerships with other churches and networks.
  • Please pray for courage, strength and joy for all those planning to help us plant Ridgeline.

I'm beginning to see God at work more and more, friends, and I believe He is moving in response to our prayers! Please continue to lift us up and I'll keep you updated on how God is moving. I'm praying for you this week and look forward to updating you next Monday! Love you all.

For the sake of His name,

Pray. Give. Go

Hey Everyone,

Forgive me for the delayed update this week. We've been going in a hundred different directions, but I want to keep you up to speed on what's going on.

Our family had a great trip to Chicago last week! We saw family, hung out with friends and ate at a bunch of our favorite restaurants (as of this morning, I'm 11 lbs heavier than I should be, so...). Some of the highlights for me were:

  • Seeing Ava get a hole in one playing mini-golf (I also lost to her, so that was humbling).
  • Performing my sister-in-love's wedding.
  • Jet skiing with the kids and watching Tami water ski (she was a beast as usual).
  • Spending an evening with the leadership team at Redemption Bible Church. I'm so encouraged by all God is doing there and so thankful for their generous support of Ridgeline.
  • Speaking at the Vertical Church Conference. I met with 30 or 40 pastors and did some training on sermon prep from my book.

We came back to North Carolina on Sunday and Monday I drove to Washington D.C. and back in order to interview Pastor Mark Dever at Capitol Hill Baptist Churchfor my podcast. He was very generous. He took us out to lunch, gave us a great interview, invited us to watch the eclipse from the roof of his church and set up a private tour of the capitol building for us. It was a whirlwind, but a great day spent making fun memories with Tyler and Scott.

As of this week I'm spending the majority of my time getting ready for our vision meeting coming up in Hickory next Monday and catching up on email, phone calls and a host of other tasks. Here are a few key ways you can be praying for us this week.

  • Pray for our vision meeting on Monday night. We've invited some friends in Hickory to join us for an hour to hear about our vision for Ridgeline and how they can play a part. We're inviting people to PRAY, GIVE, and/or GO with us. Would you pray that God moves in our hearts?
  • Keep praying Tyler's house and our house sells. We both continue to have showings and our realtor is encouraged, but we're anxious to sell so that we can get moved to SLC.
  • Pray for our kids as they start school this week. We decided to start them in the same school they attended last year until we move in order to give them some stability. Pray they get off to a great start.
  • Continue to pray for our fundraising. I'm building some great relationships and God is opening doors, so please just pray God continues to provide.

Thank you all again for your faithful prayers for us. I'll send the next update on Tuesday of next week, so I can fill you in on our vision meeting! We couldn't do this without you!

For the sake of His name,

Pray, Pray, Pray.

Hey All,

First, let me just say "thank you" for your willingness to follow our journey and to join us in prayer. We're in a season as a family and team where we have many needs. We need to sell homes, find jobs, recruit people and get moved. Through it all the one thing we need more than anything else, the one thing that makes all these other needs come to fruition, is prayer. So thank you for your faithful prayers.

The last few weeks have been crazy. I finished my time at Harvest Bible Chapel in Hickory and I'm forever grateful for all God has taught me through this season and for the many sweet people He has connected us to. Tami and I also just returned from a trip to Salt Lake. We visited a great local church, searched for apartments, ate some great food, had a couple meetings and went for a brutal trail run, the start of which had a sign informing us what to do if we saw a cougar, so there's that...

This week our entire family is up in Chicago visiting family and friends, catching our breathe and getting some rest. I'm blessed to be meeting with the leadership team at Redemption Bible Church Tuesday night. They have graciously agreed to be our sending church and I'm really looking forward to my time with them. I'm also teaching a session on preaching at the Vertical Church Conference on Wednesday and performing my sister-in-law's wedding on Saturday. So there is a lot going on and we're excited for our week away.

To close I want to give you five specific things to be praying for:
1. Pray that our home in NC sells - we have a solid offer, but we're waiting for a transfer letter from the buyer's employer to come through. Please pray that's finalized soon.

2. Pray that we find a new home in SLC - we have looked for apartments, but would really like to find an inexpensive, or free place to live for a few months while we look for a home to purchase. We will be taxed heavily on any money we make on our current home if we don't reinvest it in a new house and we'd prefer to not lose that money, so please pray that God makes a way.

3. Pray for our growing team - one of my primary focuses right now is building our team. We really have three groups that make up our team: prayer team, financial support team, launch team (those physically relocating with us, or joining Ridgeline). Please pray God continues to expand each of those teams.

4. Pray for provision - we're trying to raise somewhere in the neighborhood of $200,000 to launch Ridgeline. Please pray that God would move people's hearts to support our new church. You can also help support us HERE.

5. Pray for Pastor Tyler's house to sell - We're so excited Pastor Tyler is on our team moving forward and he's working hard to sell his home in NC. His realtor says he will most likely lose money, so please pray for God's provision. He had a great open house yesterday with three people interested so let's pray!

Thank you again for your faithful love, support and prayers. If you'd like more regular updates you can follow me on social media (Instagram | Twitter | Facebook), but I'll send you another email next Monday. Keep praying! Love you all a lot.
